I mean, we’ve known the Design District has been cool for awhile now, but we love it when the rest of Dallas recognizes it! Check out the Design District winners of the Dallas Observer’s 2017 “Best of Dallas” awards!
Best Beer Selection: Meddlesome Moth
Best Local Beer: Community Beer Company
Best Lunch: Slow Bone BBQ
Best Bowling Alley: Bowlounge
Best Way to Train for the Zombie Apocalypse: Trinity Strand Trail (Okay, this is a silly one, but the Trinity Strand Trail is new, it’s awesome, and it’s great that it is being recognized as such.)
So there ya go. You can get good food, good beer, good fitness and fun bowling all in the Design District! And also all of the fabulous design and interior decorating centers we have. The DDD has it all and the rest of Dallas is starting to take notice of the new (ish) kid on the block. Check out the rest of the winners here!
Come check out Carlin & Company’s gallery at International on Turtle Creek to see their latest Drexel Heritage Line!
Here is a description of the new line: “Valmoral collection – with design inspiration from both 19th century Directoire period and the early 20th century modern period, Valmoral is a breath of fresh air in a world of fine furniture. Crafted in highly figured American walnut with rich silver-gray finish and nickel hardware, each design in the collection stands on its own as a treasure. Old World meets New World when the collection is placed together – clean, bold lines of more modern pieces mix beautifully with the curved, classic lines of the Directoire inspired pieces.”
We found the future, guys! And it’s in our own Design District! If you want to see some digital magic, come check out the Dallas Design District’s latest business, 3D Desktop Labs. We were absolutely blown away by not only what you can make out of 3D printing, but by the incredible forms of art that can be created with 3D technology.
The company recently moved to 1107 Dragon Street, and CEO Kevin Page’s business offers business-class, full-color and white powder 3D printing services for individuals, companies and organizations throughout DFW. But the location also hosts an art gallery that shows off the amazing mediums that can be created using 3D printing technology.
On Monday, July 27 at 1:00 pm, the MakerBot CEO will be at 3D Desktop Labs to give a presentation on the future of the 3D printing industry, which is looking pretty bright. While in the past, 3D printing was outrageously expensive, it is now much more accessible, easy-to-use and inexpensive
From the presentation’s summary: 3D Printing is going to shake up the way we think, design, invent, manufacture and interact with the world of physical things.
Really guys. This is a really neat business to hit our neighborhood and only contributes to the DDD’s artistic, future-thinking vibe!
The latest and greatest in the Dallas Design District is none other than a new quality lingerie shop, Zsofias! Owner Zsofia Mezey promises a “destination experience” in her shop. The shop sells a specially chosen selection of lingerie and loungewear. Sofia’s believes that buying lingerie shouldn’t be an uncomfortable task, but a fun and special experience where customers can find lingerie and undergarments that make them feel “pampered, beautiful and confident.” We think that’s fabulous, and we’re glad that someone is making sure that lingerie isn’t just fun in itself, but shopping for it is too! Zsofia’s says, “we are passionate about providing women with an exact fit knowing that beauty starts from the inside out.” What a great new gem in our already wonderful collection of Design District shops!
Check out Zsofia’s website here, or go visit them at 1130 Dragon St Suite 160 Dallas, Texas 75207

Make sure to check out our events calendar to see what’s going on in the area this weekend. You might even catch us at a couple of them.
