Beauty in the Process: Design District Mural by artist Kyle Steed

One of our favorite local artists, Kyle Steed (check out his website, here) recently finished the super cool typographic mural on our Trinity Market Center along The Trinity Strand Trail. The mural features words inspired by JFK’s famous quote encouraging a sense of community within Dallas’ ever-growing Design District.

But of course, in addition to the amazing results—which we couldn’t be happier with—there is always beauty in the process itself. Thanks to Doug Klembara, we get to share that sentiment with this video, which documents the process behind the work of art.

Indulging for a Good Cause

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Caroline Wright, author of Twenty-Dollar, Twenty-Minute Meals (who’s credentials include being a trained cook and influential food writer, as well as studying in Paris and working as a food editor for Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food magazine) presents a bake sale at CityCraft: Modern Fabric to benefit Café Momentum (check it out, here) this Saturday, May 10 from 10 AM to 2 PM. The Dallas-based restaurant and training facility provides an opportunity for the community’s most at-risk youth to receive intensive culinary, job, and life-skill training, as well as mentoring and support. Not that we need an excuse to treat ourselves to something sweet, but there’s nothing like indulging for a good cause. Whether you’re scrambling to get a gift, starting the festivities early, or just find yourself with a sweet tooth, stop by CityCraft: Modern Fabric and satisfy your craving for some sweet confections all while supporting a worthy cause. Plus, now you have a reason to eat that second piece of cake.
